Backyard Bamboo Workshop

We do not stop working and the project becomes more detailed and realistic every day.

Yesterday we took off a day from theoretic work at university and worked practically on the joints of our bamboo construction in the backyard of a friend. Thank you Jochem for being our St. Martin yesterday and sharing your backyard, your tools and your expertise with us!

Our mentor Marcel Bilow, head of the architecture master studio ‘Bucky Lab’ at TU Delft offered us the great opportunity to build the bamboo pavilion in scale 1:2.

We will therefore build our prototype pavilion between 7 and 16 December 2015 and will focus on the construction of the reciprocal bamboo frame structure, which is very rarely applied. The prototype is used to test the strength of the used bamboo construction and to get familiar with the material properties.

We are looking for motivated people who want to participate in the workshop - for some days or just some hours!

If you are interested in learning how to deal with bamboo, make bamboo joints the most efficient and help us testing our 1:2 model, please mail to info@pavilions-for-okana.org

We look forward to hearing from you!
