On Saturday we participated in a workshop organized by Studio Content, a Rotterdam-based young architecture office. It operates from a small former refrigerated container placed in the middle of a huge urban vegetable garden (http://studiocontent.org). Together with 10 other participants from all kinds of fields, we tested the characteristics of earth, clay and adobe discovering the stunning variety of Dutch earth. With the objective to use the local soil in Kenya to build walls with hand-made unfired Adobe blocks, we figured out what the best mixtures for walls, plaster or colour are! The challenge lies in testing the soil in Kenya ourselves with the help of simple jam pots.
